By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City businessman accused of assaulting his brother, including allegedly threatening him with a knife, is out on bail but has been ordered by the court to stay at least 100 yards away from his sibling while the case remains active.
Thirty-two-year-old Alexander Elvis Jones, a resident of the Conch Shell Bay area, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with common assault and aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument upon his brother.
The charges stem from an alleged dispute on August 5, 2026.
Jones pleaded not guilty to both counts.
With no objection from the prosecution, the Magistrate granted him bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount.
As conditions of his bail, Jones must have no contact with his brother or any other prosecution witnesses and must remain at least 100 yards away from the complainant. He is also required to attend all court dates or risk having his bail revoked.
Jones met bail and is due back in court on October 5, 2026, for disclosure.
