BUL thump Kataka in Bukedea | UPL 2026-27

BUL FC secured a resounding 4-1 victory against Kataka FC in a Uganda Premier League clash at the BCS Stadium on Thursday.

Derrick Bachwezi set the tone early for the visitors, slotting home in the fourth minute to give BUL an early advantage.

Two minutes later, Kataka sought an immediate response, but BUL goalkeeper Jean Wokorach produced a crucial point-blank save to keep the hosts at bay.

BUL continued to dominate the tempo, and Bachwezi doubled the lead in the 21st minute with a precise finish.

The visitors kept pressing, and in the 35th minute, Swabiru Mpasa latched onto a well-weighted long ball, only for Kataka custodian Edward Nsubuga to react quickly off his line and deny him.

Just before the break, Kataka found a lifeline. Ismail Tamubula was brought down inside the 18-yard box by Faisal Matovu, prompting the referee to point to the spot.

Ali Sentamu stepped up and calmly sent Wokorach the wrong way to pull a goal back for the hosts.

However, BUL snuffed out any hopes of a Kataka comeback in the second half.

Five minutes past the hour mark, Frank Katongole set up Bachwezi to complete his hat-trick and restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion.

Simon Oketch Achidi then put the icing on the cake, comfortably slotting home after a brilliant setup from Ssewagudde to cap off a dominant performance.

The victory propels BUL to the top of the UPL standings with a maximum of six points from two matches, while Kataka remains 12th with a single point.
