All of a sudden, we believe in love again, thanks to a recent interview with Donovan Mitchell and Complex.

He loves himself some Coco Jones, and he has no problem making that love known.

The NBA star and newlywed chatted with Ashley Nicole Moss for Complex Bets’ In Motion about basketball, his career and his relationship with Coco. And when the conversation turned to his wife, Donovan made it clear she has changed his life. He even admitted she makes his game better.

“I never thought it was possible to love somebody as much as I love the game of basketball,” he said. “She came into my life and she became a priority, and now I’m sitting here like, I don’t want to be without this person.”

Donovan continued, saying he knew after talking with older friends that Coco was the one. She stayed on his mind constantly.

Donovan Mitchell Says Coco Jones Makes Him A Better Player

Donovan and Coco wed on August 1, 2026. As one of Black Hollywood’s hottest couples, shots from their wedding quickly lit up our timelines. We are rooting for them and love Black love, especially when it appears built on mutual respect and support.

For Donovan, having a partner who understands what his career requires has changed how he approaches basketball.

“If someone drains you and takes you away from what your main job is, that is a detriment to your career,” he told Complex. “She pours into me. She pours into that.”

He continued, “I don’t take work and bring it home. So now when I go back to work, I’m already at a different capacity mentally. It makes you a better player.”

Donovan and Coco are giving us the definition of the Ne-Yo (with Fabulous) lyric, “I’m a movement by myself, but a force when we’re together.” They also like to keep it that way.

Donovan gushed about his wife’s career and has made public appearances to back up his words. He has supported Coco at performances, while she has shown up courtside for him. “The biggest thing is we don’t pull from each other’s careers,” he said. “We do what we have to do, and then we go home.”

Their home life is simple despite the global stages and screens for her and NBA courts and major sports activations for him. “We’re just watching movies or getting something to eat. We’re walking around Cleveland. There’s an equal balance.”

Coco Jones Calls Donovan Her “Biggest Cheerleader”

And Coco echoes her new hubby’s words.

Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year, the Grammy winner explained why having someone who understands the demands of her career matters so much.

“We both go really hard for the things we love, and they’re demanding careers,” Coco said. “I feel like we speak a different language that makes me really feel seen. And he’s my biggest cheerleader, so I feel like I’m never able to doubt myself in his presence.”

Okay, Coco!

Despite what we may see in our group chats, have experienced in our own romantic relationships and see in viral clips from “podcast bros,” there are men willingly loving women proudly and publicly. And we love to see it.

Ciara – now expecting her fifth child with Russell Wilson – has had a running prayer that single girls have been trying to get the words to for years.

Coco may just have to share hers too.
