A small government yields better results. The trouble with us is that our government is where it needs to be. And the trouble with the big government is that it will… not be dynamic to yield the desired results. And our ambition is to promote prosperity through economic diversification and job creation.

We face a high unemployment rate of twenty-one per cent for those aged fifteen and above. And fifteen is the minimum working age. Our unemployment rate has risen by 3.4 percentage points since 2016. How do we compare with the best in the region, Mauritius? Doing so shows that our government is a little overweight.
