Kabelo Mabalane Marks Long-Awaited Return With Forthcoming Single “Everybody Needs Somebody” Kabelo Mabalane is officially turning the page on an 11-year solo music hiatus with the announcement of his new single, Everybody Needs Somebody, featuring South African pop-rock duo The Arrows.
The kwaito veteran and pastor, widely known as Bouga Luv and formerly of TKZee, confirmed the long-awaited release in an emotional social media post. “11 years later… it’s finally here! There have been stops, starts, detours and a lot of life in between. But I promised you new music, and I’m keeping that promise. This first single is just the beginning,” he shared.
Set for release on 3 September, Everybody Needs Somebody will serve as the first official offering from Mabalane’s upcoming tenth solo album “Kabelo.” The single marks his first major step back into the solo spotlight since the release of Immortal Vol. 3 in 2015.
The years away from the music scene have represented a significant chapter in Mabalane’s life. Beyond his musical career, he has dedicated considerable time to his ministry, family, wellness advocacy and personal growth, while continuing to nurture his creativity behind the scenes.
His recent studio updates have offered glimpses into the direction of the forthcoming project, with gospel vocalists, orchestral elements and collaborations involving artists such as Khaya Mthethwa and JazziQ pointing towards a sound that embraces both musical maturity and spiritual influence.
Reflecting on the lengthy wait, Mabalane previously explained that “the music was being prepared in the wings because timing is everything.” His return therefore feels less like an attempt to revisit his past and more like an introduction to the artist he has become.
The collaboration with The Arrows adds another dimension to the comeback. Known for their melodic, jazz-influenced pop and faith-inspired songwriting, the Durban-rooted duo brings a complementary sound to a song built around a message of human connection and the importance of community.
