Two Bathlodge men accused of carrying out an armed robbery at Buckley Line Gas Station have been remanded to prison after appearing before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Friday.
Jermain Joseph, 19, and Deon Smith, 35, face armed robbery charges in connection with the theft of $6,000 from the All Saints Road business.
According to police, two masked gunmen approached the station on foot at about 4 p.m. on Friday, September 4. One, armed with a handgun, entered the business and allegedly took cash and lottery tickets, while his accomplice, carrying a long gun, reportedly forced a pump attendant to hand over a money bag.
The incident was captured on video, which has since circulated widely on social media. Station workers appeared visibly shaken, with one employee dropping to the ground as the robbery unfolded.
The gunmen reportedly fled on foot, and a single shot was allegedly fired during their escape before they sped away in a dark-purple Toyota Ractis. A spent shell casing was reportedly recovered from the scene.
Joseph and Smith, both of Bathlodge, were represented by attorney Wendel Alexander. They were ordered to return to court on November 18.
