By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 20-year-old Belize City labourer has been remanded to prison after being charged in connection with an armed robbery at Guan Fa Shop in Belama Phase 2.
Christian Denver Ramos, of Wagner’s Lane, appeared before a Senior Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with one count of robbery. He was denied bail due to the nature of the offence and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 19, 2026.
Police allege that at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, a 30-year-old shop owner was attending to a customer at the business on Albert Hoy Street when a man dressed entirely in black, wearing a black bucket hat and dark shades, entered and waited in line.
According to the police report, after the customer left, the man allegedly jumped over the counter, produced a black object resembling a firearm and demanded money.
Fearing for her life, Ma reportedly placed approximately $700 in cash from the day’s sales into a black backpack provided by the robber. The assailant then fled the shop in the direction of Chetumal Boulevard.
Northside Criminal Investigation Branch personnel later reviewed surveillance footage from inside the store. Police say the footage was displayed on a larger screen and an officer identified the alleged gunman as Ramos.
The matter remains before the court.
