Belize High Schools represent at CODICADER Games 2026 in Honduras

By Zoila Palma:  Belizean student-athletes and coaches proudly represented the country at the 2026 CODICADER Games in Honduras, with teams competing from September 9 to 14 in a regional showcase of secondary school sports and athletic talent.

The Belize Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (BAPSS) and the National Secondary School Sports Association (NSSSA) have commended the schools, coaches and student-athletes for their participation, noting that significant financial commitments and sacrifices were made by schools to ensure that qualified teams could travel and compete.

Belize is represented across several sporting disciplines.

Bishop Martin High School and Maud Williams High School are competing in basketball, while Saint Catherine’s Academy and Saint John’s College are representing the country in volleyball. Sacred Heart College and Belize High School of Agriculture are competing in football, with Saint John’s College also participating in baseball.

Independence High School is representing Belize in softball, while athletes from almost all secondary schools are participating in track and field.

BAPSS Chair Jeaneane Neal and the association’s executive members also recognized the principals who traveled to Honduras to personally support their school teams.

Their presence, BAPSS said, provided an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie with Central American counterparts while promoting educational and sporting ties throughout the region.

The associations extended appreciation to principals, NSSSA and NSSSEC executives, coaches and student-athletes for their discipline, initiative and sportsmanship. Their participation, despite the financial challenges involved, has allowed Belizean schools to compete on the regional stage while proudly flying the Belizean flag at the CODICADER Games.
