Western Cape police have offered a R100 000 reward after 11 people were killed in separate Cape Flats shootings.
The killings took place in Langa, Nyanga and Gugulethu on Saturday night, 8 August.
Police are investigating and have not yet confirmed a motive.
Police seek information
Western Cape police commissioner Lieutenant-General Sizakhele Dyantyi appealed to the public for assistance during a media briefing outside a house in Langa, where five people were killed.
“At this stage, we are not clear what the motive is,” Dyantyi said.
She confirmed that police had put up a R100 000 reward for information that helps investigators trace and arrest those responsible.
Police have not said whether the shootings in the three areas are linked.
Cape Flats violence under scrutiny
The latest killings have again placed the spotlight on gun violence in Western Cape communities.
Dyantyi said illegal firearms continue to fuel violence in the province, while police work to identify those behind the latest attacks.
