By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men are receiving medical treatment under police guard after they were shot during an armed robbery on Mahogany Street in Belize City on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. while a salesperson was seated inside a parked delivery truck. Two armed men reportedly approached the vehicle and demanded the sales proceeds in the salesperson’s possession.
The salesperson complied with the demand initially then subsequently fired upon the alleged robbers, shooting and injuring both men. Earlier reports confirmed that police had responded to a robbery and shooting involving a delivery truck in the area.
The injured men were transported for treatment and remain under police guard. Their identities, medical conditions and the amount of money stolen have not yet been disclosed.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
