Kane Keid Set To Release 4-Track Bundle ‘NOTE2SELF.’ Kane Keid is marking his 23rd birthday with a short but deeply personal musical offering, giving fans a glimpse into his world as he counts down to another milestone.

The Thembisa-born artist, whose real name is Lonwabo Nkhoesa, recently shared artwork on Instagram showing a brown-toned cover stamped with the word “TWENTYTHREE.” A digital countdown underneath points to “LEIDER DAY,” building anticipation around the release as his birthday approaches on 22 August.

Titled NOTE2SELF, the project runs for just over 10 minutes and features four tracks. Rather than presenting itself as a traditional major release, the collection feels like a personal note turned into music, staying close to the introspective style that has become central to Keid’s artistry.

Among the songs revealed are “How U Doing?”, dated 4 August, “New Body” featuring Issi, and “XXL”. A fourth track rounds out the project.

The release arrives at a significant point in Kane Keid’s journey. The rapper has previously used his birthday as an opportunity to share reflective music. In 2025, he released “Call U Back When I Make It” on the day he turned 22.

This year, the mysterious “Leider Day” concept adds another layer to the celebration. The word “Leider” can translate to “unfortunately” or “sadly”, while the unusual presentation leaves room for interpretation. Paired with the stark “TWENTYTHREE.” branding, it gives the release the feel of a personal checkpoint rather than a conventional birthday drop.

Keid has been steadily building his name since gaining attention through raw freestyles and finishing in the Top 10 of the 2023 Sportscene Put Me On competition. His talent has also attracted recognition from international names including will.i.am, Timbaland and Pusha T.

His 2025 EP Not Famous further established him as an artist willing to explore vulnerability, ambition, identity and the pressures that come with being seen by the public.

NOTE2SELF appears to carry that same spirit, only in a more condensed package. The four-track release gives Keid space to document where he is emotionally and creatively while continuing the momentum towards his highly anticipated debut album, Son of SOiL, which is expected later this year.

With his birthday countdown now underway, NOTE2SELF serves as both a gift for listeners and a personal timestamp in Kane Keid’s growing story. At 23, the rapper appears less interested in making noise for the sake of it and more focused on leaving behind honest pieces of himself through the music.
