Minister of Agriculture and World Bank team visit projects in Belize

By Zoila Palma: Today, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries Rodwell Ferguson along with a high-level team from the Ministry and CRESAP representatives accompanied a visiting World Bank team auditing projects in Belize.

The delegation visited Juan Lopez’s farm in Rockstone Pond, Belize District.

Lopez is a CRESAP beneficiary who has used his grant money to improve his 700 acres of pasture by planting different varieties of grass and sectioning off his pastureland into 45 paddocks of between 15 to 5 acres, using electric wire fencing to contain his herd and keep out predators.

The World Bank is the primary funding agency for the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project (CRESAP).

A team is currently in Belize at present checking projects funded by the agency and talking to beneficiaries.
