By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security & New Growth Industries, in partnership with the Taiwan Embassy concluded a specialized training workshop in Hopkins focused on the utilization of fish skin for sustainable leather production.
The Ministry says that this initiative aims to foster local economic development by introducing eco-friendly alternatives for artisan manufacturing within coastal communities.
Facilitated by Pili Luna, a representative of the Central American Agricultural Council, the training covered fish skin preservation and tanning techniques, sustainable material processing for artisanal goods, and micro-enterprise development.
The project opens the door to an innovative market while equipping rural women and youth with entrepreneurial skills, strengthening community resilience and environmental protection.
