Rema Responds to Criticism Over His Sound: “I’ve Been Experimenting From Day One

Rema has addressed criticism surrounding his evolving sound, making it clear that experimentation has always been at the core of his artistry.

Speaking candidly, the Afrobeats superstar dismissed claims that he’s only recently begun experimenting with his music, reminding fans that his biggest records were once considered unconventional.

“People are thinking, ‘Oh, Rema is experimenting.’ I’ve been experimenting from the first day. Your favorite songs are an experiment. I pulled up with ‘Iron Man’ & everybody was calling me Indian Boy.”

The singer acknowledged that not every release will resonate with everyone but insisted that public opinion has never dictated his creative direction.

“Not everyone is going to like it. Not everybody liked me in 2019. I don’t really give a f*ck. I still move with that mentality.”

Rema went on to explain that every song he creates is driven by instinct and curiosity, describing his creative process as channeling his ADHD into music.

“Whatever I drop right now is always an experiment because I just put my ADHD into my music. I don’t give a f*ck.”

Known for constantly pushing the boundaries of Afrobeats with elements of trap, pop, and alternative sounds, Rema‘s latest comments reinforce his commitment to artistic freedom, regardless of public perception.
