For now 23 years since inception, the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) has continued to majestically transcend across boundaries to foster sports development in the Eastern part of the African continent.
Sports development from the grassroots in both primary and secondary institutions as well as the Special Needs cluster has been core of the agenda.
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and prospects of spreading wings to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are direct target groups.
FEASSA’s recent acquisition of the East African Development Bank (EADB) as a key strategic partner is a wholesome comprehensive score way above the ordinary.

This banking institution comes in handy with definitely cash boost and other logistical offers with even bigger prospects of multiplying the package.

There are new sports for the U-19 category to include Baseball (boys), Softball (girls), Lacrosse, Cricket, Cross Country, Beach Soccer and Beach Volleyball.
The primary school games for U-15 are Basketball, Handball and Cross Country.
Showdown, Sitting Volleyball and Hi-Soccer are the games for Special Needs Education (SNE).
All the above are of course joined by the traditional indoor and out-door games that have been played over the years.
To prove their might and relevance, FEASSA has provided a rich platform to talent identification and nurturing across the development sports disciplines.
The talents have developed further and even been elevated to the various national teams in the respective countries.

This is the step in the desired right direction for the growth of school sports for FEASSA with proven leaders Justus Mugisha (President); David Ngugi (Secretary General), Alfred Okanya (Treasurer) and others on board.
The rotational policy of hosting the FEASSA Games has also been appreciated to the brim as each of the member countries has been able to host, showcase their organizational abilities, developed infrastructure and promoted regional tourism.
Sports tourism is a raw deal for many countries of East Africa with virtually the biggest percentage of forex being earned through this rich invisible industry.
The earnings are further utilized to boost welfare, livelihood, boost security and the general development that EADB and FEASSA aspire for.

The on-going 23rd FEASSA Games in Morogoro, Tanzania have lured a record 5000 plus participants and officials, an enviable number that surely will leave the economy of the place far-fetched and improved.
These games officially kicked off on Friday, 14th August 2026 with the ceremonial start set for Sunday, 15th August 2026 at the historic Jamhuri stadium, overlooking the signature picturesque ranges in the visible.
