Southern Region police hold mid-year CompStat to review operations

By Zoila Palma:  The Belize Police Department’s Southern Region held its CompStat Mid-Year 2026 on Thursday, August 13, at Blue Reef Resort in Seine Bight Village, bringing together senior officers and commanders to assess crime trends, policing initiatives and operational needs across the region.

The session, held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., was chaired by Sgt. #98 Aretha Gordon, Officer in Charge of the Seine Bight Community Oriented Policing Unit.

 Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Alden Dawson; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Sandra Bodden; Southern Region Commander Superintendent Brent Hamilton; and other senior officers were in attendance.

Commanders and representatives from formations and sub-formations presented updates on crime statistics, community policing initiatives, officers’ welfare, operational activities, station management, and the availability and use of resources.

They also raised concerns regarding operational capacity, resources and other needs within their respective formations, which were addressed by Deputy Commissioners Dawson and Bodden through guidance and clarification.

The CompStat provided a platform for accountability, collaboration and strategic decision-making, with discussions emphasizing teamwork, effective resource management, communication and proactive policing.
