Supreme Court Lets Trump’s $5M E. Jean Carroll Verdict Stand

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — The U.S. Supreme Court has dealt another blow to President Donald Trump’s legal challenge against author E. Jean Carroll.

The justices rejected Trump’s last-ditch request to reconsider the case, effectively closing the door on the $5 million judgment.

The high court’s decision leaves a 2023 jury verdict intact. Jurors found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in a Manhattan department store dressing room in the 1990s and later defaming her.

The ruling solidifies the $5 million judgment, which Trump has already paid into a court account along with accumulated interest.

Trump is still waiting on the Supreme Court in a much larger legal battle. The justices have yet to rule on his separate appeal involving an $83 million defamation judgment Carroll won in a follow-up trial.

For now, the $5 million verdict stands.
