Telecel Ghana has hosted 100 girls from Ghana’s Upper West and Volta Regions as part of the government’s Girls in ICT initiative, aimed at encouraging more young people to develop skills and pursue opportunities in technology.
The programme, organised under the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation’s Girls in ICT initiative, brought the participants to Telecel Ghana’s headquarters for practical technology-focused sessions.
The sessions covered coding, robotics and cybersecurity, giving the girls hands-on exposure to different areas of digital technology. The programme is designed to strengthen participants’ technical knowledge while building their confidence to engage with the technology sector.
Telecel Ghana said the initiative forms part of efforts to equip the next generation with relevant digital skills needed to participate in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
The company’s participation also highlights the role of collaboration between government and private-sector organisations in expanding access to technology education and encouraging more girls to consider careers in ICT.
