The former East St. Louis High School and Missouri blue-chip receiver suffered a groin injury that will keep him out of all Chicago Bears practices and preseason games. The team is hopeful he will return for the season opener at Carolina on Sept. 13…Richard Chaifetz, the mega SLU benefactor whose name is on Chaifetz Arena and its business school, is a minority owner of the Portland Trailblazers. The team’s new frugal owner Tom Dundon has done nothing to quell rumors of relocation. For what it is worth, Kalshi places the chance of STL landing the team at 13%. There is a 76% chance it remains in Portland…Eric Bieniemy, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator, has returned to the team after dealing with the tragic situation in which his son, Elijah, allegedly shot his wife, Mia, on July 26 in Loudoun County, Va. She remains hospitalized and listed in stable condition. The couple’s son is undergoing mental health evaluations…Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers center and former MVP, has lost weight and Mike Gansey, 76ers president of basketball operations, says Embiid is “extra motivated.” Let’s call it “The LeBron James impact”…
