Kitara FC has got financial backing from the government of Uganda through National Council of Sports (NCS) as part of preparations for the Caf Confederation Cup clash against Mogadishu City, Kawowo Sports can exclusively report.
The Royals will face the Somalian side in the first preliminary round with both matches at Hoima City stadium with a possibility to face Egypt’s Al Ahly in the next round.
According to reliable sources, government has extended money amounting to Ugx, One hundred fifty million shillings (Ugx. 150,000,000) with immediate effect, 50 million short of what the club had requested in a letter signed by club president Deo Kasozi to NCS dated August 25.
The financial backing will go a long way in helping Kitara who are set to cater for all expenses for the Mogadishu City side during their time in Uganda as per recent assertions by Kasozi.
On top of the 150 million, Kitara will also receive $ 100,000 from CAF as a grant to help negotiate the preliminary rounds.
On Monday August 24, Kitara also received footballs from NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel to help them prepare for continental duties.
It remains to be seen whether Vipers who are set to represent Uganda in the Caf Champions League will also receive government boots as they carry the national flag.
