Indian killed in Riyadh airport attack

The Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that an Indian citizen injured in the attack on the Riyadh airport had died from his injuries, a day after the strike.

Saturday’s attack on the airport killed 13 persons from several countries and injured more than 300, making it the deadliest strike on Saudi Arabia since May 2015, BBC reported.

At least 11 Indians were among the injured, the Indian embassy said, including the one who later died.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi identified the deceased person as Mohammad Yousuf Ali, a resident of Hyderabad.

He was travelling with his family for Islamic pilgrimage Umrah and was waiting at the airport for a flight when the attack took place, The Indian Express reported.

The Indian embassy expressed its condolences to Ali’s family and said it would provide assistance, including facilitating the early repatriation of the body.

The diplomatic mission said that while three injured Indians were in intensive care but in stable conditions, two others were admitted to regular hospital wards. Other injured Indians had been discharged.

The others who died included four Saudis, two people from Bangladesh and one person each from the United States of America, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt, the Saudi civil aviation authority said.
