By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating the sudden death of 22-year-old Kimane Rosita Ashanti Garbutt, a pregnant woman also publicly known as “Kimmy Boo,” whose body was discovered inside an upstairs room in Belize City on Sunday morning.

Police were called to a building at the corner of Vernon Street and Amandala Drive at about 9:30 a.m. on August 2. Upon arriving, officers met a 44-year-old man, who escorted them to a room on the upper floor.

Inside, police found Garbutt’s motionless body in a seated position in a corner of the room. Her body was reportedly already in an advanced state of decomposition.

Moore told investigators that he went to check on Garbutt at about 9:00 that morning but found the door to the upstairs room locked. He forced the door open, found her motionless and immediately contacted police.

According to the police report, Garbutt had suffered from epileptic seizures for several years. She was also in the third trimester of pregnancy and had reportedly been experiencing complications. She had visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for a prenatal check-up approximately two weeks before her death.

Garbutt was last seen alive at about 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1. At the time, she told him that she was not feeling well.

Garbutt had previously received public attention under the name “Kimmy Boo” through several Magistrate’s Court appearances. In October 2025, she pleaded guilty to a theft charge and was fined, and in December 2025, she was fined after pleading guilty to common assault.

Her body was transported to the National Forensic Science Service laboratory, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and police investigations continue.
