Malie Donn steps up with debut album ‘The Golden Child’

Malie Donn has been building his name for a while now. Early 2020s underground cuts like Hennergy and Crook put him on the radar, but it was the viral success of V6 that took Jamaican artist Kymalie Hylton, better known as Malie Donn, to an international audience. With his melodic “highway music” approach and raw lyrics, he quickly became one of the new voices to watch in dancehall and went on to win Best New Dancehall Artist at the Caribbean Music Awards.

And now comes the biggest statement of his career so far. On September 4, 2026, Malie Donn releases his full 21-track debut album, The Golden Child, through VP Records. The project was originally set for a late July release but was pushed back to give the album a broader global rollout.

For Malie Donn, The Golden Child is more than just an album title. It represents the pressure, struggles, tests and resilience that came with his rise through the music industry. The cover artwork underlines that message, depicting him in gold as hands reach towards him.

Across 21 tracks, Malie Donn expands on the sound his listeners already know while giving us a broader picture of where he’s heading. The album features production from, among others, DJ Frass and brings in a strong line-up of current dancehall names. Squash appears on the title track, Byron Messia on Free 6ix Boss, Antuwang on Trackstar and Javo Donn on Club Lit.

There are familiar favourites in the mix too. Miami, Holiday, Winning and Badman Treat sit alongside newer material, with Malie Donn moving through street narratives and lifestyle tracks recorded over the past two years.
