National Emergency Management Organization supports Hurricane Preparedness Simulation Exercise

By Zoila Palma:  Today, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) Southern Region is supporting the Three-Phase Hurricane Preparedness Simulation Exercise for Fisherfolk and Fishing Cooperatives in Dangriga Town.

The simulation exercise conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation is designed to strengthen hurricane readiness by testing warning dissemination, communication protocols, fisher and vessel accountability, vessel and equipment protection, evacuation procedures, and continuity arrangements for the fisheries sector under a simulated tropical cyclone scenario.

NEMO noted that these exercises help identify strengths, expose operational gaps, and ensure that communities and critical sectors are better prepared to respond when severe weather threatens.
