Nelly & Ashanti Turn Cameras On Her Masters Push & His Touring Grind
Nelly and Ashanti's new season follows her push to own fresh recordings, his touring toll and their life between two cities.
Nelly and Ashanti’s TV return will follow her push to control her music as he weighs the physical toll of nonstop touring.
Peacock confirmed Thursday that “Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together” returns November 19. All eight episodes of the second season will arrive that day, BroadwayWorld reported.
The new season follows Ashanti as she re-records her debut album, works on new music and moves between life in St. Louis and New York City. The season synopsis places that work alongside motherhood, live performances and time with the friends who help keep her grounded.
Nelly’s storyline will explore the physical strain of years on the road.
Ashanti’s ownership project has roots well before the couple’s reality series. She discussed plans to remake her first album during a 2021 appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show”, when she stressed the need to understand record contracts and credited her legal team.
Her self-titled debut, Ashanti, arrived in 2002 and included “Foolish,” “Happy” and “Baby.” The album earned triple-platinum certification.
Ashanti’s stated aim is to own new versions of those songs. Those new performances create separate master recordings from the versions released on her 2002 debut.
“I think it’s really important to stress the importance of ownership. Owning your records, owning your masters,” Ashanti told Rolling Stone AU/NZ in an earlier interview.
She urged artists to understand the business when writing and producing, and said she was re-recording her work. Her remarks put the project in the broader context of artists seeking more control over their creations.
She also singled out “Foolish” as a song that still draws a strong response at shows. Hearing thousands of fans sing words she wrote more than two decades ago remains a highlight of performing, she said.
That same interview offered a glimpse of their offstage chemistry: Ashanti picked Nelly as her favorite collaborator. He joined the video call, joked, “Just making sure,” and kissed her cheek.
The couple’s show was renewed in March 2026 after its June 2025 debut. They began dating in 2003, reunited in 2023 and married that year. The new eight-episode season arrives in full on November 19.
