Ramaphosa heads to Botswana for Bi-National Commission
President Cyril Ramaphosa will embark on a state visit to Botswana from Wednesday.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will embark on a state visit to Botswana from Wednesday until Thursday at the invitation of his counterpart President Duma Boko.
Ramaphosa will co-chair the 6th session of the South Africa-Botswana Bi-National Commission.
The two countries enjoy strong and long-standing bilateral relations with cooperation spanning all sectors of the economy.
South Africa is one of the key trading partners of Botswana in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The two leaders will use the Bi-National Commission to fortify strategic alliance that exists between Pretoria and Gaborone.
A number of MOUs will be signed on several areas such as water management, energy, tourism and correctional services.
They will also focus on socio-economic issues, political developments, defence and security. President Ramaphosa will visit the Botswana Vaccine Institute meant to address animal diseases such as the foot and mouth disease.
Ramaphosa and Boko will attend the business forum to explore investment opportunities and promote robust business partnerships.
