Safaricom has crossed the one-million mark in fixed data and home internet subscriptions in Kenya, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya’s Fourth Quarter Sector Statistics Report for the 2025/26 financial year, covering April to June 2026.
The operator recorded 1,024,950 fixed data/internet subscriptions as of June 2026, giving it a 36.1% market share. Jamii Telecommunications followed with 541,003 subscriptions and a 19.1% share, while Wananchi Group, Ahadi Wireless and Poa Internet held 10.4%, 9.5% and 8.8%, respectively. Starlink Internet Services Kenya recorded 27,616 subscriptions, representing a 1.0% share.
Kenya’s fixed internet market reached 2.84 million subscriptions by June 2026, representing 6.9% quarterly growth and 32.4% year-on-year growth. The Communications Authority described the market as experiencing “unprecedented growth”, driven by increased competition, changes in the digital economy and infrastructure roll-outs.
Fibre remained the leading fixed internet technology, with subscriptions increasing 29.7% year-on-year to 1.57 million. Terrestrial wireless subscriptions grew 42.9% to just over 1.03 million, while satellite subscriptions increased 54.4% to 27,695, reflecting the growing presence of low-Earth-orbit satellite providers such as Starlink.
