As I sit here, nervous about reflecting on the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors, I can't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility.
Today, I want to share with you the importance of understanding the anti-colonial and abolitionist movements, and the significance of what often gets lost in translation.
The fight against colonialism and slavery was not just a battle for freedom; it was a fight for the restoration of dignity, humanity, and justice.
Our ancestors, who endured unimaginable pain and suffering, paved the way for us to stand tall today.
Their resilience and unwavering spirit continue to inspire us to dismantle the oppressive systems that still persist.
But what often goes unnoticed is Neurodivergent and Disabled African and African Ancestry Peoples struggles.
It's the stories of love, loss, and longing that are often overshadowed by the grand narratives of revolution and campaigning.
It's the heart-wrenching separation of families, the stolen childhoods, and the cultural erasure that we must remember and honour.
In our pursuit of justice, we must not forget the emotional toll that colonisation and slavery inflicted upon our ancestors.

Today, we call upon each and every one of you to join our call to action.
