The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a former senior official at one of the country’s public institutions, following investigations into allegations of corruptly using office for personal gain.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the ACC said “funds intended for the institution were deposited into a personal bank account between June and December 2021”.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Windhoek Regional Court on 6 March.
The identity of the suspect and the institution will be disclosed after the individual’s first court appearance.
The ACC says it remains mandated to investigate corruption, prevent corrupt practices and raise public awareness of the dangers corruption poses to national development.
The ACC has been allocated approximately N$116 million from the national budget for the 2025/26 financial year – an increase from about N$106 million in the previous financial year.
