Amritpal S. of Surrey wins $32-M Lotto 6/49 Jackpot

AFTER a busy day, Amritpal S. needed some time to decompress, so he went to White Rock to clear his head. He saw that there was a lottery win in Surrey and decided to scan his ticket. Instead of clearing his head, Amritpal had a lot more to process after learning that he won the $32-million Gold Ball Jackpot from the September 19 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I checked my ticket in the car, using the [BCLC Lotto! Mobile] app,” recalled Amritpal. “I saw the amount and was confused. I read $32,000 and used other phones to check. I couldn’t process it!”

The Surrey resident went home and interrupted his sister eating dinner to share the news. “My sister was the first person I told. She was speechless and started crying,” he said.

Amritpal plans to celebrate his win with family. While he is still taking some time to decide what to do with his windfall, he shared he wants to help his parents and sister, purchase a house, and get a few cars.

“I know I can buy anything I want, but I’m still taking some time to decide. My dream car is a Dodge Challenger though,” he said.

On how it feels to win?

“I’m so happy! This will change my life,” Amritpal said.

The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven on 152 Street and 104 Avenue in Surrey.

Amritpal completed his prize claim at BCLC’s Vancouver office on September 23.

So far in 2026, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $85 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
