RIDGE Meadows RCMP are investigating the second serious pedestrian-involved motor vehicle incident that has occurred in two days in Maple Ridge and is advising the public to take precautions.
On March 10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 12200-block of 227 Street in Maple Ridge.
Officers arrived on scene and learned that a pedestrian was crossing mid-block when they were struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on 227 Street.
The 45-year-old female pedestrian was subsequently transported to hospital by emergency health services and is in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
Officers are reviewing video surveillance footage in the area and speaking to possible witnesses. Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline is leading the investigation and being assisted by the Investigative Support Team. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service is also providing support.
