By Zoila Palma: Eating out became more expensive for Belizeans in August 2026, with prices for restaurants and accommodation services increasing by 4.3 percent compared to August 2025, according to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB).
SIB noted that the increase was driven primarily by higher costs for restaurant and café services, adding to the growing expenses faced by consumers when dining away from home.
The increase in restaurant costs formed part of the rise in consumer prices recorded during August.
Overall, Belize’s Consumer Price Index increased by 4.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
