Miss Zimbabwe Trust blocks Courtney Jongwe’s Miss Universe bid citing contractual obligations following social media outburst

THE Miss Zimbabwe Trust has barred the reigning Miss World Zimbabwe, Courtney Jongwe, from participating in the 2026 Miss Universe Zimbabwe competition citing contractual obligations.

The contract mandates that the title holder is not allowed to participate in any beauty pageant, requiring the winnner to focus on Miss World Zimbabwe Pageant title which is the “main pageant related priority,” as stipulated in the section 4.2.11 of the contract.

Under these terms, a model is legally prohibited from entering or even interviewing for a rival pageant without “written” permission from management.

In a statement, the Trust asserted that in the Miss World Zimbabwe contract, it says that during the winner’s reign, she is expected to give her time and energy to the title.

“Following internal review and consultation, it was reviewed that Courtney would not proceed in the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2026 competition due to the contractual obligation contained within the Miss World Zimbabwe title holder agreement.

” While Courtney had completed parts of the application and interview process, the final decision was made in alignment with the organisation’s contractual framework and governance process.

“This decision was not intended to undermine her capabilities, achievements or aspirations, but rather to uphold the responsibilities and commitments attached to the Miss Zimbabwe title,” reads the statement.

The statement comes after Jongwe cried foul on social media, accusing Miss Universe Zimbabwe of dishonesty.

Jongwe dropped out of the competition following an exclusion in the competition’s top 30 model-shortlist.
