Nemostars bolster squad ahead of 2026 CAVB Men’s ACC

Nemostars Volleyball Club has signalled its serious intention for the 2026 CAVB Volleyball Men’s African Club Championship by unveiling a high-profile coaching appointment and a string of elite player signings.

In a major statement of intent, the club has confirmed the appointment of Godfrey Owese Okumu as head coach.

An FIVB Level III certified tactician, Okumu brings a wealth of international pedigree to the club, having previously served with the Kenyan Women’s National Team and enjoyed successful coaching stints in the highly competitive leagues of Japan and the Philippines.

The squad overhaul doesn’t stop at the bench. Nemostars have significantly beefed up their roster with the inclusion of powerhouse Daudi Okello, alongside Emma Elanyu, Mark Omara, Hussein Adome, and Titi Okumu.

This influx of talent is a direct response to a disappointing 19th-place finish at the previous edition in Libya a sharp decline for a side that made history in 2019 by finishing 6th, the highest ever ranking for a Ugandan club at the continental showpiece.

They touched down in Kigali on Monday morning to begin their final preparations ahead of the continental showpiece.

With a world-class coach at the helm and a refreshed, star-studded roster, Nemostars are widely expected to surpass their previous records and mount a formidable challenge for a place on the podium.
