By Zoila Palma: The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the Ministry of Rural Transformation, has launched the Community Profile Information System (CPIS), a new digital platform designed to collect, store and analyze critical information from 194 communities across Belize.
The platform was developed from an IOM-led pilot survey conducted in 2023, which gathered socioeconomic and demographic data from 20 rural communities in southern Belize.
Building on that initiative, CPIS is being funded by the IOM through the Government of the United States to make reliable community information more accessible to decision-makers, development partners and local stakeholders.
The system is expected to strengthen evidence-based planning and improve service delivery by providing timely information on community needs, resources and opportunities. It will also enhance access to community and business data, supporting more targeted and inclusive development programs across the country.
The IOM said CPIS will give stakeholders a stronger information base for identifying priorities and designing interventions that respond to the realities of Belizean communities.
The platform is available online at communityprofile.ruraltransformation.gov.bz.
