Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has called on Black Stars players to show their strengths when they face off with Panama in the Group L clash at Toronto stadium on Thursday morning.
The African nation comes into the world cup on the back of failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and in March, were forced to replace Otto Addo at the helm.
However, The Black Stars comfortably secured their spot at the World Cup with eight draws, one draw and just the single defeat in CAF qualifying, finishing as winners of Group I, six points ahead of second-placed Madagascar.
Queiroz who will be managing at the 5th world cup told the media that his team has to show quality and strength in their game and described Panama as a very organised side.
“We’re strong and we’ll showcase our strengths in the game”, Queiroz said.
“Panama is a well-organized team and we hold them in high regard because they are competitive. We have good solutions to their strengths and will try to expose the weaknesses they have.”
The former Real Madrid coach who also assisted Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United called on fans to sing and drum through the game.
“I hope that during the game we will hear the drums of Ghana for 90 minutes and let them accelerate the beat of our hearts.”
Meanwhile, Panama playing their second world cup after losing all their group matches in 2018 will hope to have a better show.
In their qualification campaign, they did so well in the CONCACAF region and went six games unbeaten during the second phase of qualification.
Ghana are without Thomas Partey for the game but in Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew, they have experienced heads to lead them in the game.
In the same group, England takes on Croatia in the early kick off on Wednesday at 8pm [EAT].
