Report by Simon aged 14.
Our source at "The Sunday Times" asked all 45 UK police forces through the FOI [ Freedom of information] act, how many strip searches they've done on under 18s in the last five years, it's taken 2 months to get responses back, they heard back from 42 of them which show just under 40,000 in total (which works out to about 200 a week) with black teenagers now recorded to be TEN times more likely to be a targeted than white children.
This means on average 180 black children every week according to the statistics and feedback, some are immorally [In front of complete strangers, and in inappropriate settings, at times not in the company of a responsible adult they feel comfortable with being strip searched?!]
Black News has been asked by our sources at [ The Sunday Times } to find black children, and thier familes who have experienced being strip searched.
So we spoke to parents and children on the affects.
We are asking those individuals and families who read this, and are aware of any like minded stories to share them with us anonymously if need be, so we can share an even more wide spread acurate historical picture.
One parent from Romford/havering told us " My 11 yr old daughter was strip searched without my permission or knowledge at school by 2 police officers one female the other male who claimed he needed to be present incase she tried to run away while the female officer stripped searched her infront of him, on the back of what a 13 yr old white female student had said.
Without any knowledge permision or coroboration by us as parents, and after said student had been found smoking WEED in the playground ,she blamed my daughter for giving her the spllif, [ my daughter was just walikng by] and had no knowledge of this, and was simply pulled up by the teacher and questioned as a result, then inappropriately excluded without evidence even after the police were called and found no drugs on her, she felt violated!.
WE AS A FAMILY FELT DISGRACED!!
The parents also said, "of course we as a family felt let down, after complaning vigourosly to the police school, and the local authority, we moved our child".
They addecd while the white child who had been caught smoking, was not seached, penalised or had any marks on her record?
THIS IS NOT JUST A RACIAL MORAL ISSUE, BUT A LEGAL SAFEGUARDING EMERGENCY!
They added further " we don't send our daughter to school to be abused by children teaching staff, or overeaching actions of the police, acting immorally and iresponsibly".
Another parent from Wolverhampton, who's black 12 yr old daughter was strip searched at school without any of the familes knowledge and most pressingly while her daughter was on her period said "We are no longer just taking names places and times, but are asking for accountabily for these acts on our minors, by officers!".
We DEMAND ACTION!
How dare adults abuse our daughter in this way?
I DON'T CARE WHAT THEIR PUBLIC TITLE IS? We find no reason for such actions! And will seek to prosecute them as far as the law allows!.
I won't go into details as its to traumatic. However this kind of behaviour not only affected my child, but ruins the trust we as a family have in the legal or education system!
A child of 13 recounts his experience living in North London, with his parents permission he said:
It's difficult to have to recount, but i have been strip searched 2 times, It's shamefull and degrading however I understand the importance of speaking about what happened.
The first time I was 12 when me and my friends decided to go up west , taking the 73 bus at around 4.45pm, we got to Oxford St around 6pm and got off at Oxford Circus.
We made our way to some stores to window shop, while on our way back to the bus stop, what I now know was an unmarked police vehicle with plane clothed detectives slowed down along side us.
One of the officers leaned out of the window and said where are you " black tea leaves off too", refering to me and my 2 friends, I replied not knowing they were police YOUR MUMS HOUSE!
This resulted in a chase, we were cornered, I was strip seached on Ramilies street just off Oxford St at the bottom of the stairs.
I remember because I felt so ashamed, standing their half naked infront of the public but more importantly my friends the officer then planted a car key in my back pocket, and simply said we were trying to steal a vehicle, this was a lie, which caused the judge to give me and my friend an unconditional discharge! My mum says this still mean's I have a criminal record?
I did nothing wrong? But for the first time felt abused by adults.
If you know anyone who has been a victim of this police practice in the past who wants to speak about it?
Call Simon on 07983331189
Anonymously if you like.
But the most important thing from our perspective is to get more real voices , so we all understand why these searches can be so truamatic and damaging.
