Why Black Internet is Pissed Off at This New Tupac AI Video

If you miss the 1990s and, more specifically, if you miss Tupac Shakur –then boy do we have some…interesting news for you. But fair warning: there’s a whole lot of people who aren’t happy about this. Let’s get into it.

Whether you realize it or not, there’s a lot of online chatter from folks who feel some type of way about a new AI video floating around featuring the “All Eyez on Me” rapper. As you well know by now, the internet has seen a rise in AI videos over the last few years. Just as we were all collectively intrigued and curious about the holograms of yesteryear, now technology and artificial intelligence has advanced so much that it’s getting harder to tell what’s real and what’s fake.

In particular, recreations of some of our beloved stars via AI seems to be the latest trend taking over — and Tupac has now been subjected to it.

In the viral clip, the “Keep Ya Head Up” rapper can be seen taking a casual stroll down what looks to be a “lotion” aisle while a group of kids follow close behind him with cell phones in hand.

“Y’all really gon’ follow me through the lotion aisle, huh?” he asked the kids in his signature gruff tone.

“We just need a couple pics, Pac,” one kid answered.

“Aight, make it quick. I’m just shopping,” he said.

When another kid asked for a selfie, AI Pac agreed and told them the let him grab some socks before he continued.

What’s interesting to note here is the fact that the AI version of Pac is in his early 20s. Had he still been alive, he would’ve been 54 as of 2025. So it’s a wonder why they didn’t age him up a little bit to make this a little more believable. If you’re gonna do it, do it right, right?

Needless to say, once this video began making the rounds on social media, it didn’t take long for fans to speak out about it and call it out for being “distasteful,” “disturbing” and warn of its implications.

“This is so disturbing and disrespectful!” one user wrote on Instagram.

“Smh I don’t even know what to say to this. Let the GOAT rest please. It’s been 30 years (dang that’s crazy to say),” one other user said.

Over on TikTok other, users were weary of the risk this new wave of AI could pose.

“I feel like AI is going to end up framing people for crimes never committed,” wrote one user.

“AI is scary people wake up nothing good is coming out of this,” said another.

Added one other person: “Does anybody else feel that they’re dumping all this realistic AI out now so that when we really do see something that look crazy, they can just blame it on AI?”
