By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk are investigating a hit and run traffic accident that left a 13 year old boy injured on Friday evening.
According to police information, the minor was riding a bicycle along San Jose Drive at around 6:45 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle while passing 9 De Octubre Street.
The boy told police that he suddenly felt a hard impact to the right side of his body, causing him to fall onto the pavement and then into an empty lot.
He reportedly identified the vehicle as a gold Ford Ranger single cab pickup with a licence plate ending in 84.
Police say the driver did not stop and continued on.
The minor sustained injuries to the right side of his body, including his right elbow and ankle. A doctor later classified the injuries as harm.
His bicycle also sustained damage to the seat and both wheels, estimated at $350, while the screen of his Samsung A05 phone, valued at $250, was broken.
The matter remains under investigation.
