BLACKPINK’s JISOO transforms into 4 characters for self-portrait’s new fashion campaign
BLACKPINK’s JISOO is stepping into character for her latest collaboration with London-based fashion house self-portrait. Titled Portraits of a Screen Star, the fashion campaign casts JISOO in a series of imagined audition tapes, with the singer and actress taking on four distinct cinematic characters. Shot in Seoul by photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch, each instalment is set to reveal a different side of her artistry and performance. The series has premiered with The Enigma, which sees JISOO embodying a curious, whimsical and quietly amused character. For the first instalment, she wears a grey button knit playsuit, a red check frayed knit jacket, and a purple faux leather skirt. It allowed me to try something completely new and each character I played required something different from me,” she said. JISOO added that each character’s wardrobe played an important part in shaping her performances. “The evolution of the character's wardrobe was how I found the nuance in each performance,” she shared. “I have worn self-portrait for many years and the pieces make me feel like I can do anything — this time, they let me dream that I could be anyone.” Three more characters, each with their own personality and visual identity, are set to be unveiled throughout September.
