The future of Los Angeles is looking precarious again, and Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer are taking us into the next chapter. Prime Video unveiled a new trailer and official teaser key art for Blade Runner 2099 during its New York Comic Con panel, giving fans another look at the limited series set fifty years after Blade Runner 2049.
All eight episodes will premiere on November 25, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. For those who prefer their existential sci-fi crises with a side of binge-watching, your Thanksgiving weekend plans may have just gotten considerably darker.
Yeoh and Schafer joined cast members Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben and Matthew Needham onstage alongside showrunner, creator and executive producer Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. The conversation explored the futuristic world of Blade Runner and the next chapter of a franchise that has long challenged audiences to consider what makes someone human.
In Blade Runner 2099, Los Angeles has been reborn, but humanity cannot take the credit. The story follows Cora, a fugitive who makes one final attempt to stop running by assuming a new identity as a Blade Runner. She is forced to partner with Olwen, a Replicant with only days left to live, as they hunt a runaway carrying a truth that could bring the fragile city crashing down.
An assumed identity, an uneasy partnership and a secret capable of destabilizing an entire city? That sounds like fertile ground for the moral complications that make this franchise so compelling. Olwen’s dwindling time also gives the investigation an especially urgent edge. In a world where the line between human and Replicant is already fraught, who gets to decide whose life matters?
For BGN readers, the ensemble offers plenty of familiar faces across our favorite fandoms. Abold, whose credits include The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Gribben, known for Somewhere Boy, are series regulars alongside Yeoh and Schafer.
The recurring cast includes Sheila Atim of The Woman King, Matthew Needham of House of the Dragon and Tom Burke of Furiosa. Yes, the actor behind Larys Strong is entering another world where power, secrets and survival are likely to make dangerous company.
Other recurring guest stars include Katelyn Rose Downey (The Nun II), Daniel Rigby (Renegade Nell), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow), Amy Lennox (Only Child) and Maurizio Lombardi (Ripley).
Behind the camera, Luisa leads the series as showrunner, creator and executive producer. Jonathan van Tulleken, whose credits include Shōgun, directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer. Original Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is among the executive producers, connecting this new installment to the franchise’s cinematic roots.
The executive producing team also includes Alcon Entertainment co-founders Kosove and Johnson, Alcon’s President of Television Ben Roberts, Steven Johnson, Scott Free Productions’ David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger, Richard Sharkey, Tom Spezialy, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Tim Gable and Isa Dick Hackett.
With Yeoh and Schafer leading the cast, Blade Runner 2099 has our attention. Its premise sets up a mystery with consequences that extend well beyond finding one runaway, while returning to the questions of identity, mortality and belonging that have kept fans invested in this world for decades.
Blade Runner 2099 premieres November 25, 2026, with all eight episodes available exclusively on Prime Video.
