Bongani Fassie Sets Release Date For ‘Skomline’ EP. South African producer and artist Bongani Fassie is stepping back into the spotlight with the announcement of his upcoming EP Skomline, set for release on May 8.

The project signals more than just new music. It stands as a personal declaration of rebirth, creative clarity, and renewed purpose from the son of legendary singer Brenda Fassie.
Pre-save and pre-add options for Skomline are already live across major streaming platforms, giving fans an early chance to lock in ahead of what is shaping up to be a significant release. Anticipation continues to build as Fassie prepares to reintroduce himself through a sound that reflects both heritage and evolution.
Rooted in the spiritual intensity of Gqom, the EP draws inspiration from Fassie’s deep ties to KwaZulu-Natal while also paying homage to his upbringing in Langa, Cape Town, often referred to as Skom or Skomline. The title track doubles as a heartfelt hometown tribute, capturing the emotional weight of identity, memory, and legacy.
Rather than staying within one lane, Fassie stretches his sonic palette by blending Gqom with Amapiano, Afro-Tech, Bacardi, Hip Hop, and R&B influences. This layered approach delivers a project designed for both high-energy dance floors and introspective listening. A notable collaboration with producer Dee Traits adds a darker, more experimental texture. Dee Traits described their creative process as effortless, highlighting an instant connection that led to a sound built on deep basslines and futuristic Gqom elements.
Skomline also reflects a period of intentional silence and recalibration in Fassie’s journey. He describes the project as a fearless expression of self, emphasizing that stepping back was part of a larger strategy to return stronger and more focused.
Beyond music, Bongani Fassie continues to expand his footprint through ventures such as Fassie ENT, Fassie Legacy, and the Fassie Foundation, alongside his work as a motivational speaker and television personality. These efforts reinforce his commitment to building a legacy that reaches beyond the studio.
