CEC Gyanesh Kumar postpones Chhattisgarh visit amid nationwide protests demanding his resignation
The two-day visit was rescheduled due to ‘unavoidable reasons’, the Chhattisgarh poll office said.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and other senior Election Commission officials postponed their two-day visit to Chhattisgarh amid protests over the functioning of the poll panel and its handling of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls, The Indian Express reported.
The visit was postponed “due to unavoidable reasons”, the newspaper quoted a letter issued by the office of the chief electoral officer in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday as saying.
The new dates of his visit are yet to be made public.
Kumar was reportedly designated a state guest during his visit to Chhattisgarh, but his official itinerary was not clear.
However, he was scheduled to visit the Danteshwari Mata temple in Dantewada, Chitrakoot waterfall in Bastar and Bhoramdev temple in Kawardha during the trip planned for Wednesday and Thursday, The Indian Express reported.
This came amid protests held in the country demanding Kumar’s resignation. On Tuesday, several Opposition leaders marched towards the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi, demanding a meeting with Kumar and the other election commissioners. Police detained the leaders after stopping the march, and they later staged a sit-in at Akashvani Bhawan.
