The most important trend in Afrobeats style isn’t a garment. It’s speed. A mesh tank Burna Boy wears in Lagos, or a shoe Tiwa Savage steps out in in Johannesburg, can reach Instagram and TikTok within hours. A season later, versions of it turn up in luxury streetwear. Style Rave calls it real-time cultural transmission, and no fashion-week calendar can keep up.
So what exactly is travelling? Style Rave lists the codes: silk co-ords, crochet shirts, oversized tailoring and layered jewellery. Textured fabrics, leather separates and jewel-toned suiting complete it, with traditional fashion worn as a statement. Together, it says, they mirror the warmth, confidence and glamour inside the music itself.
At the dressy end, look at Wizkid. In February he stepped out in Dior Men’s Autumn/Winter. Its relaxed fit and layered jewellery sat neatly with Jonathan Anderson’s direction for the house. Davido’s 2026 Grammys tuxedo came from the same playbook, and we called it a masterclass in intention.
At the other end is the street. Asake has posted denim-on-denim looks to his Instagram, and he wears street clothes next to designer pieces without apology. He brought the same confidence to the stage when he turned M$NEY into a statement at London’s Drury Lane.
Music cannot exist without fashion.

Many of these looks start with African labels. Style Rave highlights Orange Culture and Veekee James, both of whom work with Davido. It also points to Tokyo James, who dressed Burna Boy on tour. If you want to try it yourself, start with one piece. A crochet shirt over tailored trousers works, and so does a silk set with a single chain. Layer the jewellery once the base feels natural.
