Dave & Tems’ ‘Raindance’ Hits No. 1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart
The new champ helps Tems take the top two slots, as "What You Need" holds in second place.

Dave and Tems‘ collaboration “Raindance” rules Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart as it ascends 4-1 on the list dated Aug. 29. The reign cements the track’s status as the most-played song on panel-contributing mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations in the tracking week of Aug. 14-20 in the United States, according to Luminate.

With the advance, Tems completes a top-two takeover, as her single “What You Need” repeats at No. 2. The combination marks Tems’ fifth time appearing on both the No. 1 and No. 2 tracks simultaneously. For four weeks in September – October 2022, she and Drake featured on the leading track, Future’s “Wait for U,” while her “Free Mind” ranked second.
As “Raindance” climbs, it evicts Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” from the summit after its seven-week run.
“Raindance” gives Dave his first No. 1 through his first entry on the chart. In his native U.K., the single became the rapper’s fourth champ on the Official U.K. Singles chart and 15th top 10 overall.
For Tems, “Raindance” marks her fifth No. 1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. Here’s a review of the chart-topping collection:

Elsewhere, “Raindance” improves 5-4 on the audience-based R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which ranks songs by combined audience totals from adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop stations. There, it surges to 12.8 million in audience for the week, up 26% from the prior period. The R&B/hip-hop sector is the main catalyst behind “Raindance” driving 29-23 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, where it’s up 16% to 21.7 million.
Airplay gains, in turn, push “Raindance” 12-11 on the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which blends radio airplay with streaming and sales data for its rankings. The track hits a new peak in its 24th week on the list.
