Drones, BDF and community members join search for missing police officer Kenyon Barrow

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Belize Police Department says an extensive search remains underway for Police Constable Kenyon Barrow, with police, Belize Defence Force personnel and community members now using drones to search heavily vegetated areas around his Orange Walk residence.

Barrow, 24, is attached to the Orange Walk Police Formation and was formally reported missing by a relative on September 17.

Police said Tuesday that Barrow had not reported for duty since July 30 and had been recorded as absent without leave. During that period, officers reportedly made several attempts to contact him at his residence and by telephone.

According to police, a relative was able to maintain some communication with Barrow and last spoke with him on September 8. The two reportedly arranged to meet, but Barrow did not show up. Police said their investigation indicates he was last seen leaving his residence around September 11.

Earlier public reports placed his last known recorded sighting shortly after midnight on September 12, when surveillance footage reportedly showed him leaving a residence on West San Martin Street in Trial Farm Village alone. Barrow had reportedly agreed to collect his partner from the Philip Goldson International Airport but never arrived.

Police also confirmed that the department’s welfare section had previously been in contact with Barrow, but said there had been no indication that would have caused officers to anticipate his disappearance.

Authorities stressed that there is presently no evidence to indicate that Barrow has met with foul play. Anyone with information is asked to call 911, Crime Stoppers at 922 or contact the nearest police station.
