Police are investigating the island’s first homicide of the year, following a fatal stabbing in Castries over the weekend.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to a report of a stabbing at Darling Road, Castries, at about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 3.
Initial reports indicated that one male sustained injuries during the incident and was later pronounced dead at Owen King EU Hospital.
He has been identified as 16-year-old Omar Joseph of Marisule, Gros Islet.
Police are appealing to anyone with information concerning the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 456-3770, or provide anonymous tips via the Crime Hotline at 555 or through the RSLPF Crime Hotline app.
