President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday disclosed that his administration has zero tolerance for excuses, stressing that it is focused on delivering results to Nigerians.
Tinubu made the remark during the commissioning of the water supply network to Bwari Satellite Town of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as part of projects earmarked to celebrate his third year anniversary in office.
Represented by his wife, Mrs Oluremi, Tinubu also assured that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not a mere slogan but a deliberate social contract and commitment to governance.
He said: “I am delighted to join you today in the commissioning of the Bwari Township water supply network in Bwari Area Council of the FCT. Let me start by saying this, the Renewed Hope Agenda of our administration is not a mere slogan, it’s a deliberate social contract and a commitment to governance that works for the people.
“When we took the oath of office three years ago, we made a solemn promise to the citizens of this country that development would reach every part of our nation, ensuring that our city centres, satellite towns, and rural communities all benefit from the progress and opportunities that we are creating together.”
Tinubu noted that the water supply network is part of the fulfilment of his administration’s promises to the people of Bwari, FCT, and Nigerians in general.
He added: “As we mark our third anniversary, we are here to celebrate the fulfilment of that promise made to Bwari, last month we were also in Karu to fulfil that same promise in the provision of water and road networks.
“I recall that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike came to me with the masterplan for this interventions, I looked at the files and saw that for years our people in Bwari, Ushafa, and surrounding communities relied on untreated boreholes and streams for their water supply and this was unacceptable to me.
“Water is life and clean water is dignity, it’s a fundamental right and not a luxury. I told him to go out there, mobilize the best, fix it and today we are commissioning this state of the art 98 kilometer pipeline network. That is how we work, we do not make excuses, we deliver results.”
The president assured that the commissioned project is part of efforts by his administration to fight water borne diseases.
“This project is more than just laying pipelines and turning up taps, by linking Bwari townships and its environs to the major treated water source and the Usman Dam, we are ending water borne diseases and the constant expensive digging of boreholes,” he added.
