Sylvia Kabene wasted no time announcing herself at Mġarr United.
The Ugandan forward struck twice as Mġarr launched their Assikura Women’s League campaign with a 3-1 win over Valletta, shooting the club straight to the top of the standings.
Kabene opened the scoring in the 31st minute, beating Valletta with sharp movement and a composed finish to put Mġarr in control.
Valletta pushed for a response, but Mġarr stood firm. Then, in the 84th minute, Kabene returned to finish the job, completing her brace and securing all three points.
Kabene joined Mġarr United Women FC on June 10, 2026, switching from fellow Maltese side Hibernians WFC as she prepared for the 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying rounds.
She featured in the Champions League preliminary rounds in July before turning her attention to the domestic campaign.
Now, with two goals already in the bag, Kabene has given Mġarr an early glimpse of the firepower they can count on as they chase silverware this season.
