Kawempe Muslim qualify for CAF Women’s Champions League

Kawempe Muslim Ladies wrote history after claiming the solitary CECAFA Zone ticket for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Valley Warriors defeated Kenya Police Bullets 1-0 on Monday in the Zonal Qualifiers final to emerge Champions and thus qualify for the final tournament.

Agnes Nabukenya scored the lone goal of the final in extra time to guide Kawempe to a historic victory.

The Valley Warriors become the first Ugandan side to win the regional championship and thus also become the first Ugandan team to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.

Kawempe Muslim have been perfect throughout the tournament winning all their games (4 games, 4 wins) and, scoring 13 goals conceding none.

In the individual awards category, Kawempe Muslim were dominant with Saida Namwanje, winning the goalkeeper of the tournament award while Agnes Nabukenya was named the Most Valuable Player.

CBE’s Emush Dandamo ended as the tournament top goal scorer with six goals while South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars were given the Fair Play Award.

CBE also ended the tournament as the second runner-up after defeating Yei Joint Stars 5-1 in the third-place playoff.
